Everyone Affected By Kilauea Volcano Eruption Should Be Doing This Every Night…

It’s an amazing gift the body has given to us to use.

You can DETOX YOUR BODY EVERY NIGHT NATURALLY.

BEST OF ALL “IT’S FREE

We all have a personal “Dump System” in our bodies.

Right now we need all the help we can get to dump some of these toxins from our for awhile from our locally grown food . We can’t stop eating, So we need to learn how to survive with a healthy body when it is all said and done.

If we all would just take 10 minutes a day or fall asleep on your left side every night.

Natural Detoxing is the safest and easiest way to clean your vital organs from toxins.

Amazing Benefits of Sleeping on Your Left Side

Here are some reasons for Sleeping on your left side:

  • Facilitates lymphatic drainage from your brain
  • Makes it easier for the heart to pump downhill
  • Better elimination
  • Supports healthy spleen function
  • Encourages proper digestion
  • Helps circulation back to the heart
  • Helps bile flow more freely
about ½ inch long. drains lymph from upper right side of body. Thoracic (left) duct. main collecting duct of lymph system cm long. drains 75% of body. begins as a dilation known as cisterna chyli located anterior to lumbar disk #2.

The Lymph Drains toward the Left

The left side of the body is the dominant lymphatic side. Seventy-five percent of the body’s lymph fluid drains into the thoracic duct, which drains into the left side of the heart, left internal jugular vein, and left subclavian vein. Lymph fluid carrying proteins, glucose, other metabolites, and waste products is cleansed and then drained into the left side of the heart.

The small intestine dumps waste through the ileocecal valve (ICV) on the right side of the body into the beginning of the large intestine. The large intestine travels up the right side of the belly across the tummy, where it dumps waste into the descending colon on the left side.

Sleeping on the left side allows gravity to encourage the food waste to move more easily from the small intestine into the large intestine through the ICV.

During sleep on your left side, the waste moves more easily into the descending colon. With the help of gravity and a good night’s sleep on the left side, the descending colon is full of waste and ready to easily and completely eliminate in the morning.

One of the biggest players on the left side is the heart. If you sleep on your left side, the lymph drainage toward the heart will, again, be helped by gravity, taking some of the workload off of the heart as you sleep.

The aorta, the biggest artery in the body, leaves the top of the heart and arches to the left before it heads down into the abdomen. By sleeping on the left side, the heart is pumping its biggest payload downhill into the descending aorta.

Sleeping on the left also allows much of the intestines to hang away from the very thin-walled inferior vena cava (IVC), which brings venous blood back toward the heart. Interestingly, the IVC lies against the right side of the spine, so when you lie on the left, much of the viscera falls away from the IVC. Here again, gravity is just making the heart’s job a little easier.

The spleen, which is part of the lymphatic system, is also on the left. The spleen is much like a gigantic lymph node, except that in addition to filtering lymph, it also filters blood. When you lay on the left side, drainage back to the spleen is once again helped and made easier by gravity.

FACT; the lymph system drains all the cells in the body via movement and muscular contractions, rather than being pumped by the heart. Helping the lymph to drain to the spleen and heart with gravity is a good thing!

Very good for pregnant women

Hawaii, Big Island … Acid rain appeared today… Time to “FILTER YOUR WATER”

Acid rain appeared today. I am north / West of The Flow.

By: Chad Rhodes 05/10/2018

We all knew the Kilauea Eruption on May 3, 2018 was going to upset the water table. We just didn’t know how long it would take before the toxins were carried into our water catchments. I can say it took 7 days to reach the east edge of Keaau, Hawaii.

I noticed this morning when I washed my hands. After the water had ran for a little and cleared last nights water from the lines.. I noticed the difference. Oh my, for a moment I had forgot and I just thought the soap was not coming off.

I have also loaded up the small bottle of Regular Heinez Apple Cider Vinegar for the shower to rinse over my body after showering. It releases the acid rain soapy feeling and leaves your skin soft and hydrated.

I ordered my counter top water filtration system and I Love It.

I purchased a good quality one. I opted for a larger system,

Alexapure Pro Stainless Steel Water Filtration System – 5,000 Gallon Throughput Capacity

I have 5 dogs and myself to hydrate.

  • Removes up to 99.9999% of 200+ water impurities, including lead, bacteria, viruses, cysts, chlorine, fluoride, TCP, E. coli
  • Groundbreaking gravity block core filter with hybrid ceramic shell
  • Pour unfiltered water in, get sparkling clean drinking water out; Performance of filters may vary due to source water conditions, water turbidity and seasonal water conditions
  • Gravity fed filtration runs without electricity making it essential for emergencies
  • Raw water capacity: 8.5 liters (2.25 gallons) – Filtered water capacity: 8.5 liters (2.25 gallons)

As we all know the toxins that comes with living in paradise with an active volcano are nothing to mess with… Most of the population on the Big Island rely on water catchment systems. For you who are not familiar with this. Rain water is caught from metal top roofs and the water is stored in a large tank . Then it is filtered as it comes into the house plumbing and the water is ran through a Ultra violet light that kills the microorganisms. Then it comes to your tap where I run it through my Alexapure Pro Stainless Steel Water Filtration System – 5,000 Gallon Throughput Capacity

Don’t forget to buy the Extra filters. Better to have at least 5. Especially if you are making a survival kit..  This is great upgrade from your regular filter. Not all filters are created equal. Yes you will pay a little bit more, but you get a lot more filter and cleaner water.

Hawaii Volcano, Acid Rain and Your Drinking Water

MORE About Hawai`i’s Acid Rain for Catchment Tanks

BY: Trisha Macomber, MPH, UH College of Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources, Cooperative Extension Services

Because many questions have come up lately about the pH (a measure of acidity or alkalinity) in our catchment systems, we want to give you more detail on how acid rain can affect you through catchment water.

Different locations may require different treatment

The pH scale measures how acidic or basic something is. This logarithmic scale goes from 0-14. Numbers below 7 are considered acidic and above 7 are basic. Seven is neutral. Rain usually has a pH in the mid to high 5’s. Less than 5.6 is considered “acid rain.” On the mainland, acid rain is usually associated with pollution from burning fossil fuels that release excessive nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere. In Hawai`i, the biggest cause of acid rain is from our volcanoes, which release sulfur dioxides and trioxides into the air. These oxides, in a series of reactions in the atmosphere, combine with water molecules and form dilute acids which return to earth as acid rain. Usually Hawai`i’s acid rain contains sulfuric acid where other types of air pollution can create nitric acid.

Why does acid rain matter?

Normally rocks, soil and vegetation act as buffers and neutralize the acid. If the pH is really low, it can damage delicate vegetation and cause ecological damage. In rainwater catchment systems, acid rain can be a problem because it can leach metals and other surface and tank coatings and deposit them into the water. This is a particular problem in older homes—typically built before 1979—where roofs might have lead paint, nails, flashings and solder.

Is acid rain a health hazard?

Drinking acidic rainwater isn’t normally a problem. In fact, we drink a lot of acidic drinks and food. However, excessive acid could affect your teeth. Just like drinking soda pop or sucking on lemons, if you constantly expose your teeth to acid conditions, their protective enamel coating will be compromised.

Our biggest concern about drinking acidic rainwater is when heavy metals and other leached materials get into the water. A very common problem is when copper from water pipes make blue/green stains on our sinks and tubs. Sometimes severe leaching will cause pipes to leak.

Having some copper in our water is not necessarily a health hazard because our bodies need some copper. Many people’s diets in the US are deficient in copper and vitamin C inhibits the body’s intake of copper. However, if you suspect your copper levels are high, especially if you can taste the copper in your water, it may be too high and you should get your water tested.

Where to get your water tested for copper and lead

The cost of copper and lead water testing is partially subsidized by the Department of Health’s Safe Drinking Water Branch. On the island of Hawaii, call 933-0401 to make arrangements. You can also do inexpensive testing for lead and copper through the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, however these laboratories are not certified for drinking water, so if you use them, you should only use the results as a reference (for example, your levels are high or low), rather than focusing on a specific number.

Charcoal or carbon filters can also remove heavy metals

You can add filters made from charcoal or carbon blocks to remove lead, copper and other similar contaminants from the water. These filters should have a list of what contaminants they remove on the outside packaging. We also recommend that the product you buy contain an NSF International seal, which verifies the manufacturer’s claims.

How to get pH testing

If you want to test the pH of your water, you can buy simple pH test strips from chemical supply stores or from the UH CTAHR Hilo office. PH testing kits are also available from swimming pool supply stores and some hardware stores. In addition, there are local water laboratories that can do pH testing, if you prefer to bring a water sample to a lab, call the lab first to learn how to collect your water appropriately.

How to raise the pH levels in your catchment tank

If you need to raise the pH in your water, dissolve about 1-2 boxes of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in a bucket of water and add it to the tank every 2-4 weeks. You may need more, depending on the acidity of your water and size of your tank. Too much baking soda will make your water start to feel very soft or slimy. The baking soda also adds salt into your water, just like commercial water softeners do, and may be a problem for people on restricted salt diets.

Another product you can add is food-grade calcium carbonate granules, which are available from chemical supply companies and some local suppliers. Large solids of calcium carbonate, like limestone rocks, are not effective because the sulfur coats the surfaces and does not wash off. With limestone granules, the surface area is much larger, so they will work longer.

Concrete hollow building blocks or tiles are not effective as their surface gets coated quickly and they are not food-grade, so they should not be added to catchment water.

VOG: OUR HEALTH… WHAT IS THIS HAWAII?

WHAT IS VOG???

WARNING: STAY INSIDE YOUR HOMES IF POSSIBLE.

by Chad Rhodes May 8, 2018 10:34 AM

The big question the last few days has been “Whats the VOG going to do to us humans and our pets?”

Noxious sulfur dioxide gas and other pollutants emitted from Kilauea Volcano on the Island of Hawai`i react with oxygen and atmospheric moisture to produce volcanic smog (vog) and acid rain. Vog poses a health hazard by aggravating preexisting respiratory ailments, and acid rain damages crops and can leach lead into household water supplies. The U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory is closely monitoring gas emissions from Kilauea and working with health professionals and local officials to better understand volcanic air pollution and to enhance public awareness of this hazard.

Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens are both consumed by noxious gases and are not safe for humans or pets to live in.

Thick, acrid haze has started to cover all of the East side of the island. A resident from Hawaiian Paradise Park, approximately 15 miles from the eruption in Leilani Estates said “for the last 2 days we have had vog and ash. As you can see my fan is covered in what I am assuming is ash from Leilani Estates or Kilauea”.

We were warned early and told that outdoor activities in parks/ beaches might be canceled in affected areas and that schools might need to keep children indoors. People were also warned to be aware of respiratory problems, as these conditions could deteriorate more rapidly in areas of heavier haze. Keep your pets indoors if possible. This choking haze was not caused by a forest fire or industrial pollution but by light winds blowing gas emissions from Leilani Estates and/or Kilauea Volcano into the area.

SO2 is a poisonous gas that irritates skin and the tissues and mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, and throat. During even moderate physical activity, SO2 penetrates deeply into the airway and can produce respiratory distress in some individuals.

Many residents and visitors on the Island of Hawai`i report physical complaints associated with vog exposure. These complaints include headaches, breathing difficulties, increased susceptibility to respiratory ailments, watery eyes, sore throat, flu-like symptoms, and a general lack of energy. In contrast to SO2 gas concentration near Kilauea, the amount of aerosol particles in Hawaii’s air does not routinely exceed Federal standards, but the unique combination of acidic particles, trace amounts of toxic metals, and SO2 gas in vog may account for the wide variety of physical symptoms reported.

For More Information on Vog please see USGS

Reasons Why You Should Sleep On Your Left Side

Amazing Benefits of Sleeping on Your Left Side

Here are some reasons for Sleeping on your left side:

  • Facilitates lymphatic drainage from your brain
  • Makes it easier for the heart to pump downhill
  • Better elimination
  • Supports healthy spleen function
  • Encourages proper digestion
  • Helps circulation back to the heart
  • Helps bile flow more freely

That Old Saying: An Apple A Day, Keeps The Doctor Away…

What Is Domestic Violence?

Did anyone ever figure we would be having this conversation in 2018?

We have moved through generation after generation with the continuance of domestic violence and abuse. When will someone care enough to call when someone hears the cries for HELP? Help them when they can not or will not help themselves. Sometimes it takes a community to stop the violence. SPEAK OUT AND BE THE VOICE. Its an anonymous call to the police.

What Is Domestic Violence?

Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically; however, the one constant component of domestic violence is one partner’s consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other.

Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. It is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior that is only a fraction of a systematic pattern of dominance and control. Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and in severe cases, even death. The devastating physical, emotional, and psychological consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime.

For anonymous, confidential help available 24/7, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE) or 1-800-787-3224 (TTY).

It is not always easy to determine in the early stages of a relationship if one person will become abusive. Domestic violence intensifies over time. Abusers may often seem wonderful and perfect initially, but gradually become more aggressive and controlling as the relationship continues.

What Does Abuse Include?

Abuse may begin with behaviors that may easily be dismissed or downplayed such as name-calling, threats, possessiveness, or distrust. Abusers may apologize profusely for their actions or try to convince the person they are abusing that they do these things out of love or care. However, violence and control always intensifies over time with an abuser, despite the apologies. What may start out as something that was first believed to be harmless (e.g., wanting the victim to spend all their time only with them because they love them so much) escalates into extreme control and abuse (e.g., threatening to kill or hurt the victim or others if they speak to family, friends, etc.). Some examples of abusive tendencies include but are not limited to:1

  • Telling the victim that they can never do anything right
  • Showing jealousy of the victim’s family and friends and time spent away
  • Accusing the victim of cheating
  • Keeping or discouraging the victim from seeing friends or family members
  • Embarrassing or shaming the victim with put-downs
  • Controlling every penny spent in the household
  • Taking the victim’s money or refusing to give them money for expenses
  • Looking at or acting in ways that scare the person they are abusing
  • Controlling who the victim sees, where they go, or what they do
  • Dictating how the victim dresses, wears their hair, etc.
  • Stalking the victim or monitoring their victim’s every move (in person or also via the internet and/or other devices such as GPS tracking or the victim’s phone)
  • Preventing the victim from making their own decisions
  • Telling the victim that they are a bad parent or threatening to hurt, kill, or take away their children
  • Threatening to hurt or kill the victim’s friends, loved ones, or pets
  • Intimidating the victim with guns, knives, or other weapons
  • Pressuring the victim to have sex when they don’t want to or to do things sexually they are not comfortable with
  • Forcing sex with others
  • Refusing to use protection when having sex or sabotaging birth control
  • Pressuring or forcing the victim to use drugs or alcohol
  • Preventing the victim from working or attending school, harassing the victim at either, keeping their victim up all night so they perform badly at their job or in school
  • Destroying the victim’s property

Is Domestic Violence Always Physical Abuse?

It is important to note that domestic violence does not always manifest as physical abuse. Emotional and psychological abuse can often be just as extreme as physical violence. Lack of physical violence does not mean the abuser is any less dangerous to the victim, nor does it mean the victim is any less trapped by the abuse.

What Happens When the Abusive Relationship Ends?

Domestic violence does not always end when the victim escapes the abuser, tries to terminate the relationship, and/or seeks help. Often, it intensifies because the abuser feels a loss of control over the victim. Abusers frequently continue to stalk, harass, threaten, and try to control the victim after the victim escapes. In fact, the victim is often in the most danger directly following the escape of the relationship or when they seek help: 1/5 of homicide victims with restraining orders are murdered within two days of obtaining the order; 1/3 are murdered within the first month.2

Unfair blame is frequently put upon the victim of abuse because of assumptions that victims choose to stay in abusive relationships. The truth is, bringing an end to abuse is not a matter of the victim choosing to leave; it is a matter of the victim being able to safely escape their abuser, the abuser choosing to stop the abuse, or others (e.g., law enforcement, courts) holding the abuser accountable for the abuse they inflict.

OOH So Yummy Breakfast from a box!!!

Love Grown is revolutionizing breakfast with what they call “the power blend” of navy, lentil, and garbanzo beans! They have launched a selection of nutritious cereals that are also gluten-free and low sodium.

I am enjoying a bowl of Frosted Mighty Flakes as I write this review. This is actually the 3rd time I have eaten them, so I assure you they are delicious. They are lightly frosted and the frosted part is perfectly sweetened. They stay firm and the flakes didn’t get soggy. I actually had to leave my bowl for 10 minutes and when I returned they were still firm. I was amazed to say the least. I actually was full and satisfied until lunch rolled around. I have switched my breakfast cereal to Love Grown. So I will be reviewing the entire line they have to offer.

These are sweetened with Cane Syrup and they are labeled Vegan. Not that I care about the Vegan part so much, but as a result I have experienced a cleaner selection of products. To me that means lower sodium and prefer cane syrup over sugar or fake substitute product. NON GMO and Gluten Free are important factors also.

The Giant Cancer-Fighting Salad

This is Chris Wark’s recipe. He Beat Cancer and you can read all about his journey and his Success

Awesome Cancer Fighting Recipe

by Chris Wark (Chris Beat Cancer)

To strengthen your body’s ability to fight cancer, you need to eat what I ate:
The biggest baddest healthiest salad on the planet!
It consists of raw organic vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts and homemade dressing.
This salad is super healthy, delicious and will fill you up without zapping your energy.

The Raw Vegan Diet was a huge part of my anti-cancer strategy and I ate this salad every day, sometimes twice a day, during the first few years of my Chemo-Free Cancer Battle.

I wanted to put as many vitamins, minerals, nutrients and enzymes into my body as possible and there’s no better way than Juicing and eating fresh raw organic fruits and vegetables.

There’s really no secret formula to this salad, but there are some guidelines to follow:

Absolutely no cheese, meat, or store-bought salad dressing.

It’s also a good idea to avoid fruit which can cause some indention when eaten with vegetables.

It is important that you use organic produce, which is free of toxic chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
And of course wash everything before you eat it. Then just chop it all up and throw it in a bowl!

Note: You’re might need some bigger bowls.  Mine doesn’t look very big in the photo, but it holds over 6 cups. That’s six servings of vegetables! 6-10 servings per day of fruits and vegetables is ideal for cancer prevention and healing.

The Giant Cancer Fighting Salad
-Start with the most nutrient dense dark leafy greens: Kale and Spinach. (Do not exceed 10 cups per day)
-Broccoli (The best source of sulforaphane which promotes liver detoxification, and Indole-3-carbinol, an anticarcinogenic compound )
-Broccoli Sprouts (Concentrated sulforaphane & I3C. Do not exceed four cups of sprouts per day)
-Cauliflower
-Purple cabbage (cheapest source of antioxidants per ounce in the world!)
-Slice of red onion, (yellow or green onions may actually be better)
-Leeks
-Artichokes
-Red, Yellow, or Green Peppers
-Mushrooms Bella, Cremini, Shiitake, etc.
-1/2 an Avocado
-Squash
-Zucchini
-Raw Sunflower seeds (sprouted is better)
-Raw Almonds (sprouted is better)
-Sprouted Garbanzo Beans
-Sprouted Mung Beans
-Sprouted Red or Green Lentils

Then I top it off with either one of these naturally fermented foods:

-Bubbies Old Fashioned Sauerkraut
Bubbies is made with only three ingredients: cabbage, water and salt.  It is fermented and cured with all natural enzymes intact and there is no vinegar added. (Bubbies Kosher dill pickles are super tasty too.)Look for it in the refrigerated section of your local grocer or health food store.

-Kimchi (Pronounced “Kim Chee”)
Kimchi is a spicy Korean version of sauerkraut typically consisting of fermented cabbage, onions, garlic, and pepper. Kim Chi has high concentrations of Vitamin C and Carotene in addition to Vitamin A, B1, B2, Calcium, Iron and beneficial lactic acid bacteria.
Recognized as one of the Top Five “World’s Healthiest Foods” by Health magazine.  Also in the refrigerated section.

Fermented foods are great for digestion and repopulate your intestinal flora with beneficial bacteria essential for health.

Repeat: Absolutely no cheese, meat, fruit, or store-bought salad dressing.

I know it seems weird to exclude fruit.  Here’s why:

Fruits and vegetables need different digestive juices, and when eaten together can create excess acid and indigestion. That is why it’s a good idea to eat them separately, especially if you are sick.  This even includes non-sweet fruits like tomatoes and cucumbers.

My Homemade “Zesty Italian” Salad Dressing
This is hands down the healthiest salad dressing on the planet!
It’s super easy and delicious.  Here’s how you make it:
-Add 1 tbsp Bragg organic extra virgin olive oil to your salad
-Add 1 tbsp Barleans cold-pressed flax oil to your salad
-Lightly drizzle Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar to taste (another super healthy fermented food!)

Then shake on as much of these Four Cancer Fighting Spices as you can stand:
-Organic Oregano
-Organic Garlic Powder
-Organic Turmeric or Curry Powder
-Organic Cayenne Pepper (this will spice it up quick, go easy the first time)

I can’t tell you many times I have eaten this salad!   Over a thousand I bet.
And what’s funny is I have several books filled with of raw vegan recipes, but the Giant Salad ended up being my staple meal.

Most days I ate it for lunch and dinner. I didn’t mind eating the same thing every day because it was simple and quick to prepare.  I didn’t have to put any time into planning my meals. I knew exactly what to buy at the grocery store every week, and it’s so delicious and full of flavor it never got old!

One final note: The salad really doesn’t have to be “giant”, I make big ones because that’s what it takes to fill me up. Not everyone needs to eat that much. A small version is fine too. Just focus on getting as many nutrient dense vegetables in there as you can and make it big enough to satisfy your appetite.

Detoxing Using the Bio-Photon Analyzer

The primary function of the Bio-Photon Analyzer is to provide countermeasures to stress on the body’s energetic system.

  • Broadcast intent, energy, healing frequencies and remedies.
  • Balance and stabilize the body.
  • Detoxify the body at a safe rate.
  • Neutralize chemicals and pesticides that are on food.
  • Increase the potency of a homeopathic remedy.
  • Create a unique isopathic remedy from your witness sample.
  • Helps to reduce the stress on your body’s energetic system!
  • Supports and reinforces your body’s natural balance for optimal health.
  • Supports the detoxifying of your body at a safe and gentle rate.
  • Neutralizes stressful energetic residue that may be contaminating our foods.
  • Antidotes and neutralizes the energetic effects of chemicals and toxins in household products that may be weakening your body. Neutralizes harmful energies in your living area and land, including sick buildings, water and soil.
  • An essential tool for Feng Shui practitioners and professionals who want to increase their revenue and produce astounding results for their clients.
  • Helps to reduce the effects of electromagnetic field that may weaken your immune system.
  • Customizes the energetic match of a homeopathic remedy
  • Creates your own individual isopathic restorative structure in just 40 seconds

People who use an analyzer are able to reduce the amount of offensive substances your body is exposed to, therefore reducing the stress on the total system. This process allows the body to spend more of its energy striving for good energy, instead of dealing with substances that are causing disease throughout the body. The additional detoxification created by the analyzer within the system also helps speed the energetic process.

Using the Analyzer will help you feel better, fight off illness easier, reduce your allergic reactions and find the energetic, happier life you are looking for.

How does the ABPA do this?

The ABPA helps to bring a weakened state up to the parameters of good health and balance by creating an energetic signal exactly opposite to the one that is stressing your body (called an isopathic restorative structure). This isopathic restorative structure signal from the ABPA compensates for the stress on the energy field of your body and helps eliminates the stressful negative effect – this gives you back the energy and counters the stress that may be creating imbalance in your body.

Eating Clean Does Not Mean Starving Yourself

23 Ways To Eat Clean

Replace processed, fake foods with these healthier clean eating foods.

Cleaner, healthier eating

Healthy eating isn’t always easy, especially with junk foods tempting you at the grocery store, corner deli, and even the office kitchen. Though clean eating at every meal isn’t always realistic, you can take steps to limit processed food. Here, we show how common foods morph from real (i.e. apples) to highly processed (apple toaster pastries).

Has YOUR Diet been High Jacked by the manufactures? The #1 reason your belly fat won’t go away is Hidden SUGAR! Manufactures have replaced sugar with Corn Syrup, Artificial Sugar Syrup and other sugar substitutes. Read your labels. Same for sodium. Your goal: Choose from natural foods as often as possible, go with foods that are somewhat processed in a pinch, and limit your intake of highly processed items to none.

1. Apples
1st choice (natural state): Apple
2nd choice (somewhat processed): Applesauce
Limit (highly processed): Apple toaster pastry
Shopping tip: While applesauce is a healthy choice, it has fewer nutrients than a whole apple.

2. Oranges
1st choice (natural state): Orange
2nd choice (somewhat processed): 100% orange juice
Limit (highly processed): Orange drink

Diabetes Type 1

diabetes-symptoms

Diabetes Type 1

Introduction:

Type I Diabetes is also known as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) or Juvenile Diabetes. Diabetes mellitus is a syndrome (= set of symptoms) characterized by increased level of sugar (glucose) in the blood due to deficiency or inactivity of hormone ‘Insulin’ that is absolutely necessary to monitor glucose metabolism of body. By and large IDDM is an early-onset disease and is frequently seen in children though adults can also be affected by it. Diabetes is prevalent worldwide and if not attended properly, it may lead to serious complications.

Causes of Diabetes 1: IDDM occurs as a result of decreased production of hormone ‘Insulin’ by the pancreas (the organ that synthesizes insulin). This occurs due to loss of the insulin-producing cells (beta cells of the islets of Langerhans) of the pancreas. Auto- immunity (disturbance of immune system where body’s defense mechanism starts attacking body’s own organs and tissues) has been strongly suggested as a causative factor in the initiation of Type I Diabetes. Genetic factors may also have a role to play in this alteration of the immunity. Type 1 diabetes also appears to be triggered by some viral infections or less likely stress-related or environmental factors (such as exposure to certain chemicals).

Symptoms: The classical triad of diabetes symptoms is polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (excessive hunger/appetite). These symptoms may develop quite fast in children. There may also be weight loss and excessive fatigue.

Homeopathic treatment: In case of Insulin Dependent Type I diabetes, the role of homeopathy is restricted to controlling the complications of diabetes such as diabetic neuropathy, nephropathy, etc. Homeopathy does not have medicines that could stimulate the pancreas to secrete insulin in cases of Type I diabetes.

What is Diatomaceous Earth Used for in the Garden?

black-ant-on-leafWhat is Diatomaceous Earth Used for in the Garden?

The uses for diatomaceous earth are many but in the garden diatomaceous earth can be used as an insecticide.

Diatomaceous earth works to get rid of insects such as:

  •     Aphids
  •     Thrips
  •     Ants
  •     Mites
  •     Earwigs
  •     Bedbugs
  •     Adult Flea Beetles
  •     Cockroaches
  •     Snails
  •     Slugs

To the insects, the diatomaceous earth is a lethal dust with microscopic sharp edges that cut through the insect’s protective covering, causing them to dry out, thus killing them when they are either dusted with the diatomaceous earth or applied in a wet spray form.

One of the benefits of diatomaceous earth for insect control is that the insects it helps to control have no way to build up a resistance to the diatomaceous earth, like with many of the chemical control insecticides

How to Apply Diatomaceous Earth In The Garden: Most places where you can purchase diatomaceous earth will have complete directions on the proper application of the product. As with any pesticide, be sure to read the label thoroughly and follow the directions thereon! The directions will include how to properly apply the diatomaceous earth (DE) both in the garden and indoors for the control of many insects as well as forming a barrier of sorts against them.

In the garden diatomaceous earth may be applied as a dust with a dust applicator approved for such use; again it is of the utmost importance to wear a dust mask during application of the diatomaceous earth in this manner and leave the mask on until you have left the dusting area. Keep pets and children clear of the dusting area until the dust has settled.

In my opinion, it is better to apply the product in a wettable form to avoid the airborne dust particles problem, even then wearing a dust mask is a garden smart action to take. When using as a dust application, you will want to cover both the top and underside of all foliage with the dust. If it rains right after the dust application, it will need to be reapplied. A great time to do the dust application is right after a light rain or in the very early morning when the dew is upon the foliage as it helps the dust to stick well to the foliage.

Please make sure you do not apply where bees will be. It will kill them.

For doing the spray application of diatomaceous earth, the mix ratio is usually one (1) cup of diatomaceous earth per ½ gallon or two (2) cups per gallon of water. Keep the mix tank agitated or stir it often to keep the diatomaceous earth powder well mixed with the water. This mix may also be applied as a paint of sorts to trees and some shrubs.

This is truly an amazing product of nature for use in our gardens and around our homes. Don’t forget that it is the “Food Grade” of diatomaceous earth that we want for our gardens and home use.

Important Notice:  I recommend using  Organic Freshwater Food Grade DE in the garden just in case an animal consumes the DE. . * Any food grade diatomaceous earth uses other than those approved by the EPA, FDA, or USDA are strictly reports of what hundreds of users as well as Holistic Veterinarians have recommended.

Smokeless Tobacco

Smokeless Tobacco: Health Effects

Smokeless tobacco is associated with many health problems.

Using smokeless tobacco:

  • Can lead to nicotine addiction
  • Causes cancer of the mouth, esophagus (the passage that connects the throat to the stomach), and pancreas (a gland that helps with digestion and maintaining proper blood sugar levels)
  • Is associated with diseases of the mouth
  • Can increase risks for early delivery and stillbirth when used during pregnancy
  • Can cause nicotine poisoning in children
  • May increase the risk for death from heart disease and stroke

Using smokeless products can cause serious health problems.

MAKE EXTRA CASH IN YOUR SPARE TIME!!!

Protect your health; don’t start. If you do use them, quit.

Addiction to Smokeless Tobacco

  • Smokeless tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive.
  • Because young people who use smokeless tobacco can become addicted to nicotine, they may be more likely to also become cigarette smokers.

Smokeless Tobacco and Cancer

  • Many smokeless tobacco products contain cancer-causing chemicals.
  • The most harmful chemicals are tobacco-specific nitrosamines, which form during the growing, curing, fermenting, and aging of tobacco. The amount of these chemicals varies by product.
  • The higher the levels of these chemicals, the greater the risk for cancer.
  • Other chemicals found in tobacco can also cause cancer. These include:
  • A radioactive element (polonium-210) found in tobacco fertilizer
  • Chemicals formed when tobacco is cured with heat (polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons—also known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons)
  • Harmful metals (arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, lead, nickel, mercury)
  • Smokeless tobacco causes cancer of the mouth, esophagus, and pancreas.

Smokeless tobacco, like chew and dip, can cause cancer of the mouth, esophagus, and pancreas.

Smokeless Tobacco and Oral Disease

  • Smokeless tobacco can cause white or gray patches inside the mouth (leukoplakia) that can lead to cancer.
  • Smokeless tobacco can cause gum disease, tooth decay, and tooth loss.

Reproductive and Developmental Risks

  • Using smokeless tobacco during pregnancy can increase the risk for early delivery and stillbirth.
  • Nicotine in smokeless tobacco products that are used during pregnancy can affect how a baby’s brain develops before birth.

Other Risks

  • Using smokeless tobacco increases the risk for death from heart disease and stroke.
  • Smokeless tobacco can cause nicotine poisoning in children.
  • Additional research is needed to examine long-term effects of newer smokeless tobacco products, such as dissolvables and U.S. snus.

It also is higher for blacks (48.3 per 100,000 persons) compared to whites (45.6 per 100,000 persons). Black men have a far higher age-adjusted lung cancer death rate than white men, while black and white women have similar rates.

Prevalence and Incidence

  • Approximately 402,326 Americans living today have been diagnosed with lung cancer at some point in their lives. 3
  • During 2015, an estimated 221,200 new cases of lung cancer were expected to be diagnosed, representing about 13 percent of all cancer diagnoses. 2
  • The majority of living lung cancer patients have been diagnosed within the last five years. Lung cancer is mostly a disease of the elderly. In 2011, 82 percent of those living with lung cancer were 60 years of age or older. 3
  • In 2011, Kentucky had the highest age-adjusted lung cancer incidence rates in both men (112.2 per 100,000) and women (79.3 per 100,000). Utah had the lowest age-adjusted cancer incidence rates in both men and women (34.5 per 100,000 and 25.0 per 100,000, respectively). 4 These state-specific rates were parallel to smoking prevalence rates.
  • Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, accounting for 1.8 million new cases and 1.6 million deaths in 2012. 5
  • The National Institutes of Health estimate that cancer care cost the U.S. an overall $124.6 billion in 2010, $12.1 billion of which is due to lung cancer. Lost productivity due to early death from cancer lead to an additional $134.8 billion in 2005, $36.1 billion of which was caused by lung cancer. 6

Gender Differences

  • More men are diagnosed with lung cancer each year, but more women live with the disease. The rate of new cases in 2011 showed that men develop lung cancer more often than women (64.8 and 48.6 per 100,000, respectively). 3
  • The rate of new lung cancer cases (incidence) over the past 37 years has dropped for men (28 percent decrease), while it has risen for women (98 percent increase). In 1975, rates were low for women, but rising for both men and women. In 1984, the rate of new cases for men peaked (102.1 per 100,000) and then began declining. The rate of new cases for women increased further, did not peak until 1998 (52.9 per 100,000), and has now started to decline.3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Out098oAdxs

Racial/Ethnic Differences

  • Blacks are more likely to develop and die from lung cancer than persons of any other racial or ethnic group. The age-adjusted lung cancer incidence rate among black men is approximately 32 percent higher than for white men, even though their overall exposure to cigarette smoke, the primary risk factor for lung cancer, is lower. 3, 7
  • The lung cancer incidence rate for black women is roughly equal to that of white women, despite the fact that they smoke fewer cigarettes. 3, 7

Survival Rates

  • The lung cancer five-year survival rate (17.8 percent) is lower than many other leading cancer sites, such as the colon (65.4 percent), breast (90.5 percent) and prostate (99.6 percent). 3
  • The five-year survival rate for lung cancer is 54 percent for cases detected when the disease is still localized (within the lungs). However, only 15 percent of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at an early stage. For distant tumors (spread to other organs) the five-year survival rate is only 4 percent. 3
  • More than half of people with lung cancer die within one year of being diagnosed. 3

Smoking-Attributable Lung Cancer

  • Smoking, a main cause of small cell and non-small cell lung cancer, contributes to 80 percent and 90 percent of lung cancer deaths in women and men, respectively. Men who smoke are 23 times more likely to develop lung cancer. Women are 13 times more likely, compared to never smokers. 8
  • Between 2005 and 2010, an average of 130,659 Americans (74,300 men and 56,359 women) died of smoking-attributable lung cancer each year. Exposure to secondhand smoke causes approximately 7,330 lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers every year. 9
  • Nonsmokers have a 20 to 30 percent greater chance of developing lung cancer if they are exposed to secondhand smoke at home or work. 10

Other Causes

  • It has been estimated that active smoking is responsible for close to 90 percent of lung cancer cases; radon causes 10 percent, occupational exposures to carcinogens account for approximately 9 to 15 percent and outdoor air pollution 1 to 2 percent. Because of the interactions between exposures, the combined attributable risk for lung cancer can exceed 100 percent. 11
  • Exposure to radon is estimated to be the second-leading cause of lung cancer, accounting for an estimated 21,000 lung cancer deaths each year (range of 8,000 to 45,000). Radon is a tasteless, colorless and odorless gas that is produced by decaying uranium and occurs naturally in soil and rock. The majority of these deaths occur among smokers since there is a greater risk for lung cancer when smokers also are exposed to radon. 12
  • Lung cancer can also be caused by occupational exposures, including asbestos, uranium and coke (an important fuel in the manufacture of iron in smelters, blast furnaces and foundries). The combination of asbestos exposure and smoking greatly increases the risk of developing lung cancer. 13
  • Nonsmoking asbestos workers are five times more likely to develop lung cancer than nonsmokers not exposed to asbestos; if they also smoke, the risk factor jumps to 50 or higher. 11 Environmental exposures also can increase the risk of lung cancer death. 14

Super Delicious “Off the Wall” Bean Recipes #9

Super Delicious “Off the Wall” Bean Recipes #9

#9 JAPANESE HOKKAIDO AZUKI BEANS

Grown in the rich volcanic soil of Hokkaido, the cold northernmost island of Japan.

Their deep, burgundy sheen will attest to their nutritious quality and flavor.

Anko, sweet red bean paste, is used in many baked goods and sweet treats in Japan.  It is usually prepared by boiling and sometimes mashing azuki beans and then sweetening the paste with sugar.  The most common types of read bean paste include Tsubuan and Koshian.

Tsubuan is prepared by boiling and sweetening with sugar.  Koshian is prepared by passing through a sieve to remove bean skins, and this is most commonly used for wagashi (traditional Japanese confectionery).

Other varieties of anko includes Shiroan, made from Japanese white beans and Kurian made from chestnuts.

Anko is used in Anmitsu, Daifuku, Dango, Dorayaki, Oshiruko / Zenzai, Taiyaki, Manju, and Yokan.

How To Make Anko (Red Bean Paste)

Ingredients

  • 200g (7 oz, a little bit less than 1 cup which is 220g) Azuki beans (Today I used Hokkaido Dainagon Azuki Beans (bigger than regular azuki))
  • Water
  • 200g (7 oz, 1 cup) granulated white sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Soak the azuki beans overnight (8-12 hours).
  • Rinse azuki beans.
  • Use a big saucepan/pot because the amount of azuki beans will double after cooking. Put washed azuki beans in the pot and pour water till 1-2 inch above azuki beans. Turn the heat on high.
  • When boiling, turn off the heat and cover with lid. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
  • Throw away water and put the azuki beans into a sieve.
  • Put the azuki beans back in the pot. Add enough water just to cover the beans and turn the heat on high. Once boiling, turn down the heat to medium low and keep it simmering.
  • Once in a while push the azuki beans under the water with slotted spoon. Water will evaporate so you need to keep adding water to cover just above the beans. If you put too much water, the beans will move and break. If you need to leave the kitchen, make sure to turn off the heat. Cook for 1+ hour.
  • Pick one azuki bean and squeeze it with your fingers. If it is smashes easily, it’s done.
  • Turn up the heat to high and add sugar in 3 separate times. Stirring constantly. When you draw a line on the bottom of the saucepan and see the bottom for more than 2 seconds, add salt and turn off heat. Anko will thicken more when it cools.

Anko is ready to use. If you’re not using right away, put it in an airtight container to cool down. Once it’s cooled, keep in the fridge or freezer. I recommend storing it in small 100g packages. Wrap each anko in plastic wrap and store in a Ziploc Freezer bag. Homemade anko can be stored in the fridge for a week and freezer up to a month

What do we really know about Alternative Medicine?

Sometimes it’s hard to get through the door

Stepping Out Of the Comfort Zone

Sometimes we need to open the windows on our boxes and look out. If we are brave enough we can open the door and step out of the box.

We have been programmed into staying within our boxes. It’s safe and comfortable and society says it’s “the RIGHT thing to do”. With scientists revealing more treatments involving alternative medicine, it’s time we took a look outside. Every day new technology and research is being accomplished you won’t hear about in main stream news.

The struggle has been hard with Alternative Medicine research and technology being suppressed for so many years. Throughout this time we have been told to think it’s a hoax, these doctors are quacks and they are just out to take your money. Yes, in some cases I will agree. But there are real Holistic/Alternative treatments that work and honest doctors providing the treatment.

How do you think the Chinese survived for so many years? Still to this day they rely on Chinese Medicine, herbs, roots and other natural ingredients to make medicines.

If you think about it, if we all just understood how pharmaceutical companies derived their medicines. It would be a financial downfall for the pharmaceutical companies. If only we would ALL look outside that door. We could really change health care as we westerners know it.

For an example is the Medical Marijuana medicine. Big Pharmaceutical companies have lobbied against any form of legalization. They are at their wits end because they cannot patent marijuana and they cannot come up with the absolute formula that works the same as the real thing.

Marijuana is a plant that grows natural on earth and goes back in time as a healing medicine. Pharmaceutical CBD and THC therapies are synthetic.

There are plants on earth that cure illnesses. This is how Big Pharma came up with all the BIG $$$ synthetic medicine, but one drawback is Synthetics come with all the side effects… Some medicines have over 50 pages of CAUTION SIDE EFFECTS.

Natural, there is nothing like the real thing to heal the human body.

I use to be very skeptical, until I actually experienced alternative medicine work. Not cancer but other illnesses. If I would have never opened that door and stepped outside, I would have stayed closed minded to alternative remedies and cures.

I just wanted you to know my eyes are wide open and looking at things differently these days, that’s all. Let’s Explore Our World and Everything It Has To Offer…

STOP SMOKING FAST FACTS

Fast Facts About Smoking

Diseases and Death

Smoking leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body

  • More than 16 million Americans are living with a disease caused by smoking.
  • For every person who dies because of smoking, at least 30 people live with a serious smoking-related illness.
  • Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
  • Smoking also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Smoking is a known cause of erectile dysfunction in males.

Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death.

  • Worldwide, tobacco use causes nearly 6 million deaths per year, and current trends show that tobacco use will cause more than 8 million deaths annually by 2030.
  • Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States, including more than 41,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. This is about one in five deaths annually, or 1,300 deaths every day.
  • On average, smokers die 10 years earlier than nonsmokers.
  • If smoking continues at the current rate among U.S. youth, 5.6 million of today’s Americans younger than 18 years of age are expected to die prematurely from a smoking-related illness. This represents about one in every 13 Americans aged 17 years or younger who are alive today.

Costs and Expenditures

The tobacco industry spends billions of dollars each year on cigarette advertising and promotions.4

  • In 2014, more than $9 billion was spent on advertising and promotion of cigarettes—nearly $25 million every day, and about $1 million every hour.
  • Price discounts account for nearly 80% of all cigarette marketing. These are discounts paid to cigarette retailers or wholesalers in order to reduce the price of cigarettes to consumers.

Smoking costs the United States billions of dollars each year.

  • Total economic cost of smoking is more than $300 billion a year, including
  • Nearly $170 billion in direct medical care for adults
  • More than $156 billion in lost productivity due to premature death and exposure to secondhand smoke

State spending on tobacco prevention and control does not meet CDC-recommended levels.

  • States have billions of dollars from tobacco taxes and tobacco industry legal settlements to prevent and control tobacco use. However, states currently use a very small amount of these funds for tobacco control programs.
  • In fiscal year 2017, states will collect $26.6 billion from tobacco taxes and legal settlements but will only spend $491.6 million—less than 2%—on prevention and cessation programs.
  • Currently, only two states (Alaska and North Dakota) fund tobacco control programs at CDC’s “recommended” level. Only one other state (Oklahoma) provides even half the recommended funding. Two states (Connecticut and New Jersey) have allocated no state funds for tobacco use prevention.
  • Spending less than 13% (i.e., $3.3 billion) of the $26.6 billion would fund every state tobacco control program at CDC-recommended levels.

Cigarette Smoking in the US

Percentage of U.S. adults aged 18 years or older who were current cigarette smokers in 2015:8

  • 15.1% of all adults (36.5 million people): 16.7% of males, 13.6% of females
    • Nearly 22 of every 100 non-Hispanic American Indians/Alaska Natives (21.9%)
    • About 20 of every 100 non-Hispanic multiple race individuals (20.2%)
    • Nearly 17 of every 100 non-Hispanic Blacks (16.7%)
    • Nearly 17 of every 100 non-Hispanic Whites (16.6%)
    • About 10 of every 100 Hispanics (10.1%)
    • 7 of every 100 non-Hispanic Asians (7.0%)

Note: Current cigarette smokers are defined as persons who reported smoking at least 100 cigarettes during their lifetime and who, at the time they participated in a survey about this topic, reported smoking every day or some days.

Thousands of young people start smoking cigarettes every day.

  • Each day, more than 3,200 people younger than 18 years of age smoke their first cigarette.
  • Each day, an estimated 2,100 youth and young adults who have been occasional smokers become daily cigarette smokers.

Many adult cigarette smokers want to quit smoking.

  • In 2011:1
  • Nearly 7 in 10 (68.9%) adult cigarette smokers wanted to stop smoking.
  • More than 4 in 10 (42.7%) adult cigarette smokers had made a quit attempt in the past year.
  • Since 2012, the Tips From Former SmokersTM campaign has motivated an estimated 500,000 tobacco smokers to quit for good.

Note: “Made a quit attempt” refers to smokers who reported that they stopped smoking for more than 1 day in the past 12 months because they were trying to quit smoking.

What’s your Opinion?

Are they poisoning the world with the chem trails in the skies? Drying our fields and land to the point of flash fires across the country. What is happening to the ocean. The fish are dying at a rapid rate. Autism in children is at an all time high.

I have seen the chem trails. I have heard the military carriers at night. My trees are turning black and dying. I catch my water and my water catchment had a slimy growth and an oily film on the surface of the water, the day after I heard the planes flying over. You might say you hear planes at night. I don’t. Not even helicopters. I hear bugs and the ocean waves at night. This year we broke temperature records and continue too. My grass is dying, avocado trees from lack of water. Vinegar, All the Wonderful Things It Can Do!

I recommend you that you drink the Vinegar Cocktail Everyday.

Vinegar, All the Wonderful Things It Can Do!

The greatest gift that will save you from dieting grows on trees and is then fermented into a beautiful bounty of goodness for your body.

Vinegar can do everything from relieving muscle pain from exercise, balancing pH levels, soothing sore throats, and normalizing weight and helping to maintain levels of cholesterol already in the normal range.

Externally, it is effective in supporting healthy skin and hair. Use it topically to give yourself a vinegar facial for toning or clearing up non-cystic acne and exfoliating dry dull skin. Gently rub your skin with a soft cotton ball dipped in vinegar and watch your skin glow!

Bragg USDA Gluten Free Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, With the Mother 16 ounces

It’s also great for animals.

Use it as a soothing after-bath rinse for cats and dogs to eliminate dry skin. Just as with people, it is also helpful in older animals. The high acidity and powerful enzymes in apple cider vinegar also supports a healthy scalp. Try a rinse of apple cider vinegar after you wash your hair. It gives hair incredible shine and bounce!

It’s so easy to incorporate vinegar into your daily diet.

Get healthy and loose that extra waistline you have been carry around.

When you wake up in the morning just make a delicious cocktail using 2 teaspoons of raw, organic apple cider vinegar, and if you need a sweetener, use organic honey, 100% maple syrup, or molasses to taste. If you are diabetic, use the sweet substitute stevia. I recommend you use only distilled water.

Bragg USDA Gluten Free Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, With the Mother 16 ounces

This “Bragg Healthy Cocktail” is designed to flush out wastes that are clogging the organs of elimination, the bowels, lungs, skin, and the kidneys. Take it at least twice a day, and you will start to see changes like increased energy, soft skin, and decreased muscle and joint aches from exercise.

Make sure you use raw, organic vinegar, never dead, distilled vinegar because the natural enzymes, minerals, and nutrients are destroyed in the distilling process. Any vinegar that is clear and has no “mother” (the strand-like substance in the bottom of the bottle) has no nutritional value. Natural raw vinegar should be pungent, with a rich, brownish color and a visible “mother.”

Drinking apple cider vinegar daily, and eating a largely fresh, organic, vegetarian diet, along with following a simple fitness program, will change your life so dramatically you will never go back to your old ways! Get fit, get healthy, and live a long and happy life!

You May Ask: What is Natural Apple Cider Vinegar?

Different from the refined and distilled vinegar usually found in supermarkets, Natural Apple Cider Vinegar is made from fresh, crushed, organically grown apples and allowed to mature in tanks, which boosts its natural fermentation qualities. When mature, it contains a web-like substance, called “mother” that becomes visible when the rich brownish liquid is held to the light.

Just a few more plus’s…

Ohh My Head & Tummy Are you Hungover?

Apple Cider Vinegar is believed to help the Liver dissolve poisonous matter, like to much alcohol. It also balances the pH levels and tops up any deficiency in minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium and iron, which your alcohol soaked body is craving.

Are your finger nails brittle and soft?

Try Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar. It all starts from the inside. You could be missing trace minerals or your PH is off. The nutrients and acids naturally found in ACV are not only great for strengthening nails, they are also known to heal and prevent microbial infections that sometimes cause excessive breakage and yellowing. You can make one of the Bragg ACV recipes or purchase bottled Bragg Healthy cocktail mixes.

The Fasting: Those diets are making your system unstable. Fasting and Starving yourself is actually making your metabolism suffer, not counting what it is doing to your organs.

Do you have 3 days that you could part with 7 minutes to get into the best shape of your life?

You can do these exercises at home. No expense of the gym.

I Also recommend you that you drink the Vinegar Cocktail Everyday.

How To Get Moving, Stay Fit, And Stay Motivated

How To Get Moving, Stay Fit, And Stay Motivated

When it comes to staying or getting into good shape, motivation may be hard to come by. As the seasons change so do our motivation to stay in shape. Work schedules, cold winter days, and all those electronic gadgets that keep us from drudging up the motivation to get in shape or maintain a daily routine of exercise are definite culprits. But we should be totally aware of the effects that inactivity has on the body.

Heart disease, stroke or diabetes is just some of the unhealthy affects of inactivity in the body. The good news is that studies show without discrepancy that these affects can be prevented or reversed; meaning that switching from a sedentary lifestyle to an active one can be extremely beneficial over time. Exercise alone, without change in diet, can greatly reduce the risks for these diseases even in small amounts. Doing what ever you can to increase your motivation to exercise is the first step to overcoming the lack of motivation to actually do it. Any of the arrays of methods to motivate you will be of great importance. Listening to music while running, simply finding out the exercises that you truly enjoy, setting particular times when exercise is the main focus of the day, all help you to stay motivated to stay in motion. Developing a habit or pattern for exercising is the best way to stay motivated; your body will become accustomed to working out heavy at a certain time each and every time. Your mind posses the ability to create positive ideas that leads to positive actions allowing you to live a strong and healthy life. Positive self talk can do wonders for motivation as well as just viewing the results of previous attempts (i.e. thinner waistline, six pack, etc). Self encouragement is the ultimate motivation. You’ll have no one to thank but yourself.

Fitness motivation is the essential part of changing your body, so creating a fitness motivation plan maybe the answer for you. For men, setting goals and providing adequate challenges work best. Changing scenery from indoors to outdoors may be the answer. If you just don’t feel like exercising or giving up on an established routine, constantly reminding yourself that the pay off is great will help. Psychological benefits like increased confidence, self-esteem, and relief from anxiety, stress and depression and better sexual performance can be all the motivation that’s needed. Remaining realistic about your goals will also aid in the fight to stay motivated to exercise. Setting a goal that is extremely difficult to obtain is depleting and counterproductive. Achieving a challenging appropriate goal boosts pride, satisfaction and will create more motivation. Making the exercise routine fun by adding variety in routines, exercises, or persons that you exercise with is a likely way to stick to any exercise routine.

Setting attainable goals, adding things to increase enjoyment of the exercise routine, challenges, and the addition of a buddy to assist are all great ways to stay motivated, stay fit, and most importantly stay moving. You will benefit in the short term, and in the long run as well with physical and mental benefits in almost every way.

The High Dose Oral Vitamin C Protocol for Cancer (and Nearly Every Other Ailment)

Detox Your Life, Natural Therapies

The High Dose Oral Vitamin C Protocol for Cancer (and Nearly Every Other Ailment)

I’m really excited about this post because I’m sharing some really cool stuff about Vitamin C that many people do not know. Or maybe I’m wrong and everyone already knows this but me… We’ll see.

This is a powerful anti-cancer protocol and even if you don’t have cancer, you can use this method to determine how much toxic stress is going on inside your body and how high doses of Vitamin C could dramatically improve your health.

Ok so we all now that Vitamin C (asorbic acid) is good for you right? The body doesn’t produce it, so it has to come from food.

You’ve probably also heard that a severe Vitamin C deficiency leads to scurvy. Early symptoms of scurvy are malaise and lethargy. That’s basically a “general feeling of being unwell” along with tiredness or exhaustion. (Does this sound like you?) After a few months comes shortness of breath and bone pain. Further down the road is muscle pain, skin sores, gum disease, loose teeth, wounds not healing, dry mouth, dry eyes, and emotional problems. In the late stages comes jaundice, edema, fever, convulsions, and eventually death.

Sounds fun right? Fortunately scurvy can be CURED with lemons, limes, oranges, and any other Vitamin C containing food.

Don’t Forget to watch the video below

Here’s where it gets interesting…

The cure for scurvy was first published in 1617 in The Surgeon’s Mate by English military surgeon John Woodall. And it was completely ignored by the medical community.

In 1753 (136 years later) naval surgeon James Lind published his discovery in, A Treatise of The Scurvy, which was also ignored. The medical establishment insisted that the testimonials of eating citrus fruit to reverse scurvy were merely “anecdotal” and not based on “scientific evidence”.  Sound familiar?

Fortunately James Lind persevered and about 50 years later citrus fruit was finally accepted and used for the prevention and treatment of scurvy on sailing vessels. So, in summary:

The cure for scurvy was ignored for nearly 200 years after its discovery.

Nutrition and natural therapies are still ignored modern medicine. In fact I’d be willing to bet that if you went to see a doctor with some of the symptoms of scurvy that I listed above, you be subjected to a barrage of expensive tests, misdiagnosed, prescribed pharmaceutical drugs, and subjected to treatments for some other disease. This happens all the time. Earlier this year my good friend Tony was told that he probably had cancer or AIDS, turns out it was viral pneumonia. Can you imagine?

But I digress… Let’s get back to Vitamin C.

Here are some common whole food sources of Vitamin C:

Oranges, Kiwi, Canteloupe, Papaya, Strawberries, Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kale and Peppers.

“Super foods” with the highest concentration of Vitamin C on planet earth are:

Camu Camu Fruit, Amla (Indian Gooseberry), and Acerola Cherries. In that order.

Vitamin C supports nearly every system in your body: your adrenals, your immune system, your cardiovascular system, and more. Perhaps the most important is that it is a neutralizer of free radicals.

There’s been tons of ground-breaking research on high-dose Vitamin C’s powerful healing and anti-cancer effects by the likes of Fred Klenner MD, Irwin Stone, Linus Pauling, and Ewan Cameron. I don’t have time to get into their stories but I wanted to a least give credit where it’s due. Google them in your spare time. There’s a fascinating Vitamin C phenomenon that most of us don’t know about.

The sicker and/or more toxic you are, the more free radicals you have in your body, and as a result, the more Vitamin C your body will absorb and use. The body keeps a small reserve of Vitamin C available for use when there is increased internal demand, but when you are sick this is quickly depleted.

You may have also heard (or experienced) that if you take too much Vitamin C by mouth you get the runs, aka “chach” which is our family’s abbreviation (and code word) for

“Diarrhea Cha Cha Cha”.

A healthy person can take anywhere from 4-15 grams (4,000-15,000 mg) of Vitamin C in a 24 hour period without getting the runs, but a sick person can tolerate anywhere from 10-20 times more. I’m talking even as much as 100-200 grams per day by mouth.

Have you ever taken Vitamin C when you had a cold and it didn’t help? This is probably because you didn’t take near enough.

Here’s where it gets ridiculous… If you ate something that contained “100% of the USRDA (Recommended Daily Allowance ) of Vitamin C” that seems pretty good right?

It’s not.

The USRDA for Vitamin C is only 75 mg. That’s MILLIGRAMS. A normal healthy person can absorb and use between 4,000-15,000 milligrams per day. So the USRDA is way off on this one. 75 mg is basically what someone decided is the absolute minimum amount to keep you from getting scurvy. This is not an amount that promotes health and optimal body function.

One orange has about 150mg of Vitamin C, about 2 times more than the USRDA. And 1 teaspoon of Camu Camu Powder has about 15 times the USRDA of Vitamin C!

Even though you may not have scurvy, I think it’s safe to assume that many of us may not be getting enough Vitamin C in our diets, the lack of which could be a contributor to

  1. a) feeling lousy or b) serious disease.

High Dose Oral Vitamin C Therapy is taking the maximum dose your body can tolerate before you get the runs. This requires finding your threshold and then backing off a little bit for your daily dose. The clinical term is “titrating to bowel tolerance”.

As some of you know, one of the therapies I used to help my body heal from cancer was Vitamin C IV Therapy, which is a common practice in the natural/alternative cancer treatment world. This involves sitting in chair in a practitioner’s office for two hours with an IV drip containing 50 grams or more of Vitamin C. And while this is a very effective method to get a massive dose of Vitamin C without reaching bowel tolerance and to promote healing in the body, it is time consuming and expensive. I was paying $120 a pop, cash money. And in order for it to be the most effective you need to do it 2-3 times per week for many weeks.

My friend Bill, who’s healing his prostate cancer naturally, turned me on to a simple do-it-yourself Oral Vitamin C Protocol that he was put on by an underground cancer treatment expert whose name I cannot use publicly. Bill initially reached bowel tolerance taking 60 grams per day. After two months his tolerance was down to less than 30 grams per day. That’s a very good sign.

The Vitamin C Toxicity Test & Protocol

This is something everyone should do. Now clearly no one wants diarrhea on purpose, but in this case it can give you some immediate feedback about your internal condition. And it’s super cheap to do!

The simple way to find your tolerance is to take 2-3 grams of Vitamin C powder or crystals (ascorbic acid) every two hours mixed in 8 oz of water. That will give you about 12-18 grams the first day. Make sure you keep track of your doses. Vitamin C powder is highly concentrated. 1 teaspoon is usually about 5 grams of Vitamin C.

The goal is to find your 24 hour limit, not your single dose limit.

The half-life of Vitamin C in the body is about 30 minutes. That means about an hour after you take Vitamin C, your body has used up most of it. So an important key to this protocol is to keep your body saturated with C all day. Dosing every 1-2 hours is ideal.

If you reach bowel tolerance in the first 24 hours, reduce the total dose by 20-25% and continue to take that amount every day  as a maintenance dose (this may be for several days or weeks) until you reach bowel tolerance again at that level. Then reduce by 20% again and continue with that dose until you hit bowel tolerance, and so on.

It works the opposite of what you would expect because you don’t build up a tolerance. The healthier you become, the lower your bowel tolerance for Vitamin C will go.

If you reach bowel tolerance at 10-15 grams or less per day, you’re considered to be in very good shape health wise.

If you follow the steps above and do not reach bowel tolerance the first day, continue to up the dose each day until you get there. If you are seriously sick you may need to dose every hour or 1/2 hour as indicated in the chart below. As you get close to bowel tolerance you will get gassy and should have soft stool. That means you’re very close to your body’s limit and should reduce your dosage a bit.

Here’s a dosage chart from the late and legendary Dr. Robert Cathcart MD, who treated 9000+ patients with Vitamin C!

TABLE I – USUAL BOWEL TOLERANCE DOSES

CONDITION              Grams Per 24 Hours   Doses Per 24 Hours

normal                                               4 –  15                    4 –  6

mild cold                                         30 –  60                    6 – 10

severe cold                                     60 – 100+                 8 – 15

influenza                                      100 – 150                   8 – 20

ECHO, coxsackievirus               100 – 150                    8 – 20

mononucleosis                           150 – 200+                12 – 25

viral pneumonia                        100 – 200+               12 – 25

hay fever, asthma                        15 –  50                    4 –  8

environmental and

food allergy                                 0.5 –  50                   4 –  8

burn, injury, surgery                  25 – 150+                6 – 20

anxiety, exercise and

other mild stresses                    15 –  25                   4 –  6

cancer                                           15 – 100                 4 – 15

ankylosing spondylitis               15 – 100                 4 – 15

Reiter’s syndrome                       15 –  60                  4 – 10

acute anterior uveitis                 30 – 100                 4 – 15

rheumatoid arthritis                  15 – 100                 4 – 15

bacterial infections                     30 – 200+               10 – 25

infectious hepatitis                     30 – 100                  6 – 15

candidiasis                                   15 – 200+                6 – 25

Something else worth noting in the above chart: If you are under chronic stress or engage in athletic activities like running, weight training, etc. you are likely to have an increased need for Vitamin C and your tolerance will be higher. Even if you are healthy.

Dr. Cathcart also notes that low dose vitamin c had basically no effect, but high dose vitamin c, when taken at 80-90% of bowel tolerance, produced a significant and dramatic reduction of symptoms in his patients.

Experiments

When I first tried this protocol a couple months ago I didn’t reach bowel tolerance until I got to around 34 grams. I worked my way up to taking 12 grams three times per day. I have no idea why my tolerance was that high. I workout 3-5 days per week which would increase my tolerance but perhaps I also had something going on internally… who knows?

Earlier this morning I took 7.5 grams and it produced bowel tolerance for me a couple hours later which actually interrupted my work on this post. Clearly my tolerance is down and if Dr. Cathcart is right, my internal health has improved.

Another one: My kids came home with colds from school two weeks ago. Then my wife got it. One morning I started to feel cold symptoms as well so I took 10 grams of Vitamin c. I felt great all day. Then close to bedtime I started to feel the symptoms again so I took another 10 grams. I did this every day for about a week. I would feel the symptoms in the morning, but I quickly crushed them with 10 grams of vitamin c.  Some days I would take a dose around lunch time as well if I remembered. I was taking 20-30 grams per day for most of the week, I felt good, I was close to bowel tolerance, and the cold never developed. Since then, I’ve done this more times than I can count. Works every time.

What form to take?

Vitamin C comes in several different forms: pure asorbic acid and buffered with minerals.

Buffered C contains mineral salts like calcium asorbate, magnesium asorbate, and sodium asorbate. Buffered C is more alkaline but the excess minerals could be problematic if you are taking mega doses.

I compared three different types (buffered and pure asorbic acid) to see if they had different effects but my tolerance was basically the same for all three. Having said that…

Solaray Vitamin C Powder is 100% pure asorbic acid so it’s extremely tart and citric. Vitamin Shoppe Buffered C-Complex tastes chalky, not citric.

Thompson C Buffered Crystals is buffered with calcium asorbate, it’s citric but not as strong as the pure crystals.

Dr. Cathcart recommends taking pure asorbic acid for the high dose oral protocol. Dr. Thomas Levy recommends sodium asorbate. I think it makes sense to rotate between different types.

*After writing this post it was brought to my attention that most of the asorbic acid in vitamin C powder is made in China from GMO corn. If that is a concern for you, there are several brands of non-GMO vitamin C powders.

I Think This Is The Best One, Counters Aging

Here is some interesting news I have discovered over that last couple of months.

Since I do reviews on products and such I actually have to use the products. Good or Bad, and I must say I am very impressed with Apple Cider Vinegar and Vinegar period. I was skeptical at first but have seen the Light as they say…

Plain Regular Cheap Apple Cider Vinegar I use for your body:

ACV as a rinse after your bath or shower.  1 teaspoon of vinegar in a glass 16 oz. (plastic preferred), just in case you drop it. Pre-Warning NOW!!! Do Not do your head until last. You do not want to open your eyes after pouring the vinegar over your head. It Burns so bad.. LOL… Trust Me I know from experience… I am far from perfect…

No, you will not smell like vinegar the next day. Maybe for 30 minutes after you get out of the shower. Actually it will reduce your body odor. I take my shower right before bed. I feel the vinegar helps me stay cooler at night and sleep better. You ladies going through menopause might want to try this… I am 56 yrs. And I half reduce my nights sweat in half if not more.  I also love the way my skin is so smooth and tight in the morning.

As we age so does our skin unfortunately. I am always looking for ways to improve my overall body these days. It’s like sometimes I wake up and just say “WOW” Really!!!  You’re doing this to me!!! TODAY!!!

My blonde hair started going dirty grey but what I noticed after I started using ACV my hair started to lighten and became softer and thicker.

So what I have found out about Apple Cider Vinegar is that you can drink the organic with the mother in it (I use Bragg’s for that). These are known facts from Bragg’s website. These are just a few things. I will be going in depth in my other articles.http://www.nowlifestyle.com/get_banner_script.php?id=278832&bid=4“>

This is great for heartburn

Thick toe nails due to toe nail fungus

If your nails are brittle, it will strengthen your nails

I think this is the best one, Counters Aging. Along with a good diet and my 7 minute workout I should be spinning the years right off…

There are so many minerals that our bodies need from vinegar. We just are no longer getting them from our food that has been grown in pesticide flooded land and stripped of the minerals the soil had to offer. Now most farms are just a growing base and no more. You are better off growing a garden. Build a green house and grow your own…

Hemorrhoids Problems: Take a cotton ball and gentle apply to the Hemorrhoids. It will sting, but the pain subsides and the Hemorrhoids shrink. You can even get rid of them completely by drinking the Bragg’s ACV w/ “Mother” and that helps tremendously heal you from the inside out. This comes highly recommended to treat this problem.

DETOXING THE RIGHT AND SAFE WAY

DETOXING THE RIGHT AND SAFE WAY

To get the most out of ionic detox, it is important to take in specific nutrients that will help the body better function to release toxins through urination, defecation and sweating. The goal is to bring the body back to optimal health.

Required for everyone:

  • Drink eleven glasses of water (2/3 of a gallon or 2.5 liters) of pure water (preferably pH 9.0 to 10.0) daily. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits (limit sweet fruits, wash thoroughly) and grains.
  • During an ionic detox protocol, it is important to consume enough fiber, both soluble and insoluble. This rejuvenates the colon and accelerates the elimination of toxins from the body. It is very important for boosting immunity. The best sources of fiber are whole foods (fruits, vegetables and grains.) Because it is not always possible to get enough fiber this way, one can take a scoop of fiber supplement 5 minutes before breakfast and dinner with a large glass of water. 100% Natural USDA certified organic fiber supplement that naturally supports cleansing for a healthy digestive environment. It helps entrap toxins such as metals, lead, mercury and other environmental pollutants with the gastrointestinal tract for removal from the body. Natural Fiber resists breakdown and fermentation by intestinal flora and will not re-circulate toxins into the body.
  • Most likely, some good minerals will become depleted during each detox session. Therefore, it is important to always take a highly absorbable mineral supplement. For ladies, the replenishment of minerals is a must.

Recommended for everyone:

  • To improve the function of the immune system, colon and to increase the absorption of nutrients, take 3 capsules per day of probiotics, preferably 100% Natural plant based broad spectrum formulae, that includes a higher lactobacillus strain.
  • Digestive enzymes are energized protein molecules essential for the digestion of food, brain stimulation, cell, tissue & organ repair and generating cellular energy. These enzymes are secreted along the gastrointestinal tract and break down food in the body so that nutrients can be absorbed properly. Digestive enzymes are also present in the food we eat but they are inactivated when cooked. They are “turned off” at a dry-heat temperature of 150°F (65°C) and a wet temperature of 118°F (48°C). If our body relies too much on its own digestive enzymes, the result is more stress placed on our systems and organs. This leaves less time and energy for other jobs such as rebuilding and replacing damaged cells & tissues and keeping the immune system strong. When one eats plenty of raw foods and takes a high quality whole food enzyme supplement such as during meals, this can help avoid depletion of the body’s own enzymes, thereby reducing stress.
  • Omega-3 fish oil is an important part of an ionic detox program because it helps the body to balance at a healthy lipid level, helps with cardiovascular health, boosts immunity and has numerous other health benefits. Unless the fish oil is pharmaceutical grade and molecularly distilled, it is likely to contain high levels of hazardous contaminants. We recommend taking Fish Oil with breakfast and dinner (depending on tolerance) during the ionic detox protocol.

Caring For The Senior Family Member

You would think that in 2017 we would have figured out a way to ensure our senior citizens safe long-term care.

Many of us find that as our parents age, they’re more likely to need assistance to carry out everyday activities. If that is your role in your parents life, you will have to be diligent and make sure their needs are being met.

I know the first thought is to move them in with you. But you must really think carefully about this choice.

How do we keep them safe and living in their own homes. Or when and how do you trust a facility to give care to your family member?

  • Just remember low cost care homes usually have several patients and very few staff. Possibly there may be the 1 or 2 staff members on duty for each shift .
  • The caretaker for your family member must stay alert to their health and needs.
  • Checking with them daily. Either by being present or by phone.
  • Check physically at least once a week. Just remember it’s the ones left alone that will be at a disadvantage or taken advantage of. Without frequent communication and things go awry, you will not be aware it happened. You will never know something happened until the one you are caring for speaks up and tells you so.

I know our lives have become very busy between work and children. But they need you now more than ever.

Things to check on when you visit:

  • Loosing Weight
  • Gaining Weight
  • Proper Bowel Movements
  • Keeping Hydrated, especially during the hot months
  • Food supply
  • They have personal needs items. Toothpaste, deodorant and such
  • Making sure Bills are paid. Electric, gas, phone and rent or mortgage.
  • That they are able to lock doors and windows by themselves

Super Delicious “Off the Wall” Bean Recipes #2

Baked Beans

This week’s pick is, “Beans with Wild exotic names”. Not your corner supermarket staple product that’s for sure. These beans can be found online and at several stores.

This is a 10 part series on beans, so have fun and enjoy.

#2 Jacobs Cattle Beans

This bean is a Prince Edward Island heirloom. Were specific to the Maritimes and New England for many years and most certainly migrated north with the Loyalists.

Though Jacob’s Cattle beans can be eaten raw when young, they are most suited as a soup and casserole bean as the beans hold their shape under long cooking, stand up well to plenty of seasoning, and possess a rich aroma when slow cooked. Cooking times will be shorter and soaking is not required when fresh. Complimentary pairings include black beans, ham, corn, chiles, tomatoes, chicken, garlic, oregano, stewed pork, cooked eggs, cream, cilantro, melting and fresh cheeses, vinegar, roasted fish, bitter and mild greens, butter and olive oil. When cooking a pot of Jacob’s Cattle beans, it is recommended to reserve the broth, which is known as “pot liquor” and often considered to be as good as the bean itself.

BAKED BEANS

  • 1 – 1 lb/454 g package dried Jacob’s Cattle Beans
  • 2 tsps (10 mL) dry mustard
  • 1/3 cup (75 L) packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup (150 mL) molasses
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) salt
  • ¼ tsp (1 mL) freshly ground pepper
  • 4 oz (115 g) salt pork or bacon
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) white vinegar
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and diced

Cover the beans with cold water and soak overnight. Alternately place beans in a large pot with 6 cups (1.5 L) water, cover and bring to a boil. Boil 5 minutes, remove from heat and let stand for 1 hour. Drain and discard water, then rinse.

Place drained beans in a large pot with 6 cups (1.5 L) water, after boiling for 5 minutes, reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender, about 30 minutes. Drain, reserving 1 cup (250 mL) of the liquid. Transfer to a slow cooker, bean pot or casserole with a lid. Combine the reserved water with mustard, brown sugar, molasses, salt, pepper, pork or bacon and vinegar.

Cook on high in a slow cooker or at 300’F (150’C) in the oven. Beans done in a slow cooker will take about 6 hours; in the oven from 4 to 6 hours. Add water during cooking as needed to keep beans moist.

Makes 6 servings.

Don’t Be Fooled By The EGGS Cover… Yummy for your Tummy and Body

Don’t Be Fooled By The EGGS Cover…
Eggs are so nutritious that they’re often referred to as “nature’s multivitamin.”

They also have unique antioxidants and powerful brain nutrients that many people are deficient in.

Here are some reasons why eggs are among the healthiest foods on the planet.

  • Whole Eggs Are Among The Most Nutritious Foods on Earth
  • One whole egg contains an amazing range of nutrients.
  • Just imagine… the nutrients in there are enough to turn a single fertilized cell into an entire baby chicken.
  • Eggs are loaded with vitamins, minerals, high quality proteins, good fats and various other lesser-known nutrients.
  • One large egg contains (1):
  • Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin): 9% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): 15% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin A: 6% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid): 7% of the RDA.
  • Selenium: 22% of the RDA.

Eggs also contain small amounts of almost every vitamin and mineral required by the human body… including calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, manganese, Vitamin E, Folate and many more.

A large egg contains 77 calories, with 6 grams of quality protein, 5 grams of fat and trace amounts of carbohydrates.

It’s very important to realize that almost all the nutrients are contained in the yolk, the white contains only protein.

That should make you want to eat eggs right now. But here are some more reasons why Eggs are the Healthiest Food on Earth.

  • Eggs Improve Your Cholesterol Profile and do NOT Raise Your Risk of Cardiovascular Disease
  • The main reason people have been warned about eggs is that they’re loaded with cholesterol.
  • One large egg contains 212 mg of cholesterol, which is a LOT compared to most other foods.
However, just because a food contains cholesterol doesn’t mean that it will raise the bad cholesterol in the blood.
  • The liver actually produces cholesterol, every single day. If you eat cholesterol, then your liver produces less. If you don’t eat cholesterol, then your liver produces more of it.
  • The thing is, many studies show that eggs actually improve your cholesterol profile.
  • Eggs tend to raise HDL (the “good”) cholesterol and they tend to change the LDL (the “bad”) cholesterol to a large subtype which is not associated with an increased risk of heart disease (2, 3, 4).
  • One study discovered that 3 whole eggs per day reduced insulin resistance, raised HDL and increased the size of LDL particles in men and women with metabolic syndrome (5).
  • Multiple studies have examined the effects of egg consumption on the risk of cardiovascular disease and found no association between the two (6, 7, 8).

However, some studies do show an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients. This needs further research though and probably doesn’t apply on a low-carb diet, which can in many cases reverse type II diabetes (9, 10, 11).

Bottom Line: Studies show that eggs actually improve the cholesterol profile. They raise HDL (the good) cholesterol and increase the size of LDL particles, which should lower the risk of heart disease.

Eggs Are Loaded With Choline, an Important Nutrient For The Brain

  • Choline is a lesser-known nutrient that is often grouped with the B-complex vitamins.
  • Choline is an essential nutrient for human health and is needed for various processes in the body.
  • It is required to synthesize the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and is also a component of cell membranes.
  • A low choline intake has been implicated in liver diseases, cardiovascular disease and neurological disorders (12).
  • This nutrient may be especially important for pregnant women. Studies show that a low choline intake can raise the risk of neural tube defects and lead to decreased cognitive function in the offspring (13).
  • In a dietary survey in the U.S. from 2003-2004, over 90% of people ate less than the daily recommended amount of choline (14)!
  • The best sources of choline in the diet are egg yolks and beef liver. One large egg contains 113 mg of Choline.

Eggs Contain High Quality Proteins With a Perfect Amino Acid Profile

  • Proteins are the main building blocks of the body and serve both structural and functional purposes.
  • They consist of amino acids that are linked together, kind of like beads on a string, then folded into complex shapes.
  • There are about 21 amino acids that the body uses to build its proteins.
  • The body can not produce 9 of these amino acids, which are deemed as “essential” and must be gotten from the diet.
  • The quality of a protein source is determined by its relative amounts of these essential amino acids. A protein source that contains all of them in the right ratios is a good source of protein.
  • Eggs are among the best sources of protein in the diet. In fact, the biological value (a measure of protein quality) is often evaluated by comparing it to eggs, which are given the perfect score of 100.

Eggs Are Loaded With Lutein and Zeaxanthin, Which Protect The Eyes

  • There are two antioxidants in eggs that can have powerful protective effects on the eyes.
  • They are called Lutein and Zeaxanthin, both found in the yolk.
  • Lutein and Zeaxanthin tend to accumulate in the retina, the sensory part of the eye.
  • These antioxidants significantly reduce the risk of Macular Degeneration and Cataracts, which are among the leading causes of vision impairment and blindness in the elderly (15, 16, 17).
  • In one study, eating 1.3 egg yolks per day for 4.5 weeks increased blood levels of Zeaxanthin by 114-142% and Lutein by 28-50% (18).

Eggs For Breakfast Can Help You Lose Body Fat

  • Eggs contain only trace amounts of carbohydrates, but plenty of protein and fat.
  • They score very high on a scale called the Satiety Index, which is a measure of how much foods contribute to satiety (19).
  • For this reason, it is not surprising to see studies where eating eggs for breakfast leads to fat loss.
  • In one study, 30 overweight or obese women consumed either a breakfast of eggs or a breakfast of bagels. Both breakfasts had the same amount of calories.
  • The women in the egg group felt more full and ate less calories for the rest of the day and for the next 36 hours (20).

In another study that went on for 8 weeks, eating eggs for breakfast lead to significant weight improvements compared to the same amount of calories from bagels. The egg group (21):

  • Lost 65% more body weight.
  • Lost 16% more body fat.
  • Had a 61% greater reduction in BMI.
  • Had a 34% greater reduction in waist circumference (a good marker for the dangerous abdominal fat).

Not All Eggs Are The Same

It’s important to keep in mind that not all eggs are created equal.

Hens are often raised in factories, caged and fed grain-based feed that alters the final nutrient composition of the eggs. It is best to buy Omega-3 enriched or pastured eggs, they are more nutritious and healthier.

However, conventional supermarket eggs are still a good choice if you can’t afford or access the others.

To top things off, eggs are cheap, taste awesome and go with almost any food.

Eggs really are an egg-ceptional super-food.

Eggs Scrambled with Onion, Garlic and Sweet Cherry Tomatoes

Servings: 1

Sauté 1/4 sweet onion and a smashed garlic clove over medium-high heat in 1 teaspoon canola or olive oil until almost soft. Add a handful of chopped tomatoes to the pan (or any other vegetables you happen to have, such as chopped spinach, kale, mushrooms or peppers) and cook for another 5 minutes. Turn down the heat to very low. In a separate bowl, whisk two eggs. Pour eggs into the pan containing the onion, garlic and tomato — add 1 ounce low-fat cheese, if you wish. Stir continuously until eggs are cooked. Pour over toasted, whole rye bread. Bon Appitite…

Chef Sherrie Angel’s Pumpkin Dinner Rolls

Chef Sherrie Angel’s Pumpkin Dinner Rolls

Pumpkin Rolls for Thanksgiving and Christmas… Yummy

Chef Sherrie Angel “Slam Dunks” Thanksgiving this year with her Pumpkin Dinner Rolls. Creamy smooth texture that melts in your mouth. Bite after bite you can taste every spice layered across your pallet correctly.

Let’s not forget about the star of the day. Juicy seasoned to perfection turkey with chicken sausage gravy & all the sides to complete the meal.

I made my dough in the bread maker, but i have added instructions for making it by hand.

Risen twice and then baked to perfection. But we will give the directions for old school mixing in a bowl.

Chef Sherrie Angel… Rocks the Kitchen with Pumpkin Rolls

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup warm Whole Milk
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup salted Butter
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 can (15 oz) Canned Pumpkin
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups Flour

DIRECTIONS

Place milk , 1 teaspoon honey and whisk together. Sprinkle yeast on top, set to the side for 5 minutes.

In a large bowl combine and mix together the remaining ingredients. Add the milk mixture and start mixing. Dough will be wet. If the dough is extremely wet you can add some flour, but the dough should remain sticky. Don’t add to much flour at once, a little at a time until you can handle to dough.

After you have the dough mixed together remove from the bowl to a floured surface so you can knead the dough. Knead for 15 minutes.

Lightly butter a bowl and place the dough inside and cover with Saran Wrap. Allow the dough to rise. It should be doubled in size. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Remove dough from bowl. You can use a pastry mat / board, greased surface or parchment paper to use for your work area.

Divide the dough into 4 pieces so it’s easier to handle. Cut the dough into 24 pieces. Grease or butter your hands and roll the dough inward into balls. Place the pieces into a greased pan or pans. Depending on what you have handy.

Cover pans with a kitchen towel and allow the rolls to rise to double or triple the size. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

About 30 minutes before the rolls are finished rising turn the oven on to 375 degrees F.

Bake the rolls for 25 – 30 minutes or until golden.

Remove from the oven. Brush the tops of rolls with butter. Let the rolls cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Remove rolls and place on wire rack. These rolls can be served warm or at room temperature.

If needed you can make these a day ahead, so you can concentrate on all the other dinner items.
